Impact of Arts & Culture Strategy for District Council

Creative Developments director, Andrew Knutt, was employed by Somerset West & Taunton Council to help deliver their new cultural strategy, from 2020 to 2023.

As a creative industries development specialist, Andrew identified the lack of data gathering, especially from those who were funded by the council. After setting up a reporting system to gather this data, along with new criteria for those who were funded by the council, the council, its officers and councillors were able to understand better the economic and placemaking impact of their investment.

The video below shows this 18 month impact, and the work of Andrew and his fellow colleagues at the council. Unfortunately, Somerset West and Taunton Council did not upload this video to their YouTube channel due to the authority becoming a new unitary authority in 2023. But you can see similar videos related to the first 6 months and 12 months on their YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/@somersetwestandtaunton5216/videos
